Solar House

The solar house relies purely on sunlight; it needs neither oil nor gas nor main electricity. Solar collectors heat the water, while electricity is generated by solar cells.

The excess solar energy in summer is stored not as heat but in the form of hydrogen, in a tank in the garden. In the winter, a fuel cell recombines the hydrogen with atmospheric oxygen to produce electricity.

The transparent insulation makes the solar house particularly energy-saving. It allows sunlight to penetrate to the walls of the house, but prevents the warmth escaping again. Blinds shade the walls in hot weather.
